Smallpox, polio and influenza, even deadly once ruled the earth, kill a million. Today, thanks to scientific research, their impact is much less. The same applies to animal diseases such as parvovirus and feline leukemia dog. One day, a number of other diseases affecting humans, animals, and sometimes both, may meet the same fate.

When a medical breakthrough occurred, such as promising treatment of human bone marrow with sickle cell disease reported in December, often do not realize the time and effort behind the new prevention, treatment or cure. The fact is, however, medical progress is that usually take years, even decades, to come out, and how are the ideas of hundreds of attempts before one of them opens the door. Morris Animal Foundation (MAF) is committed to finding and funding the next big ideas in animal studies .

We know that a novel idea goes nowhere without funding, and funding often known next is hard to come. Fund is one of the few companies to help top scientists to collect data and test promising concepts that could one day lead to a major breakthrough for Animal Health

ideas flying tours:. With his pilot study, MAP offers grants of up to 800 a year for a program to test new ideas and collect preliminary to determine whether the idea deserves further investigation. This program provides grants in time for new ideas, accelerate scientific discovery and progress of the project funds to improve the health and welfare.

“pilot scholarships are designed to support research new ideas and research projects early when preliminary figures may not be available,” says Dr. Wayne Jensen, chief scientific MAF.

One advantage that is taken MAF pilot study to study these proposals several times a year, rather than through traditional funding cycle, once a year. Therefore, the program will help scientists more quickly respond to emerging diseases and contemporary questions in animal studies.

is desperately needed funding for pilot studies for veterinary medicine for pets and wildlife. DR. James Moore, President of the Scientific Advisory Board fund large animals, most funding agencies say they only support proposals already contain sufficient amounts of provisional figures indicate that the expected results are achieved. But researchers need to gather preliminary financing. So it was no surprise that MAP had an overwhelming response to the second call for proposals 161-2009. But the Foundation can only fund 12-18 projects each year.

“greater than expected response to a request for proposals for pilot studies suggest that there are plenty of good ideas, untested there,” Dr. Moore says

History of Revolution Health Sponsors:. The fund has a long history of funding innovative projects. For example, in 1999, MAP was the first to fund research to look at why California sea otters were dying off. In the next decade, supported by several risks associated with sea otters subsidies disorders. What scientists learned from this project helped to win 0.86 million grant from the National Science Foundation. In an interview with animal news 6.4, lead researcher Dr. Patricia Conrad it states, “says Morris Animal Foundation grants were crucial in delivering the project without support, we could not compete for higher subsidies ..”

Beyond the details presented by an infectious disease was killing sea otters, these studies also led to greater protection for the state Legislative playful creatures and trained many up-and-wine health scientists Wildlife.

In our current study, funded by Target Canine Cancer Campaign =” http://www.curecaninecancer.org/ is to test a new drug treatment with bone cancer in dogs. This project includes many facets, and most institutions and ultimately could save the lives of thousands of dogs, but little effort began as a pilot. Additional pilot can quickly lead to a promising treatment for cancer in the eyes of horses, improved nutrition and better medical trout pain management for reptiles

The present pilot study addresses the intestine, urinary tract infections and heart Worm dogs;. ;. Horses laminates and overcrowding, and drug-resistant infections in pets

“pilot studies that are important for veterinary medicine continued, mainly because they can be made relatively quickly and relatively cheaply,” Dr . says Moore.

Who knows if the pilot project this year could result. Maybe that will give veterinarians a tool to aid in their identification and control in cats with osteoarthritis or preventive inoculation of certain strains of Escherichia coli causing recurrent urinary tract infections in dogs. Or equine veterinarians will get cheap method to treat rolled painful, life-threatening condition.

Opportunities
Progress animals are endless as we continue to support entrepreneurship researchers with ideas us. This promising project may one day change the face of veterinary medicine and to help create healthy animals Tomorrow
